Emberfall Saga

Emberfall Saga proves you don't need a console to tell a good fantasy story. You lead a small band of travelers across a broken kingdom, recruiting oddballs along the way and fighting in clean, readable turn-based battles. The writing has a dry sense of humor that sneaks up on you.

Combat rewards planning over grinding. Each character has a tiny skill tree, and swapping party members to counter enemy types feels like solving a light puzzle. I played most of it in bed and never felt the fights dragged.
